St. Patrick’s Day is this Friday March 17th and there are many things you can do to get ready for this holiday. Monday through Friday, I will provide you with an activity a day to make sure you celebrate the right way and who knows, maybe you’ll find a pot of gold at along the way.
This week is Spring break so since I’ll be taking a break from posting, here’s are some activities to help you celebrate the Luck of the Irish.
Request work off. This may seem unnecessary but how are you going to make it to Nine Irish Brothers or the Indianapolis parade if you’re stuck inside at your cubicle?
Start getting ready for St. Patrick’s Day by picking up some festive clothing and gear. Grab some beads and decorations from Party City or head over to a Purdue bookstore to get a Purdue themed St. Patrick’s Day shirt. Everyone dressed in insane themed clothing for the bar crawl so make sure you buy some unique St. Patrick’s Day pieces.
Today’s the day to prepare yourself for Saturday’s bar crawl. The Great Indoorsman is a tradition that hundreds of students participate in every year at Harry’s Chocolate Shop. The goal is to sit at Harry’s from opening at 11 a.m. to close at 3 a.m. and drink a drink every hour you’re there. Don’t forget to pack cards and games because 16 hours at a bar might get a little boring. This event might only be possible for students who are on Spring Break but if you can request this day off from work, then do it. This day is a crucial part of your preparations.
Before you head to the celebration remember to pick up your Shamrock Shake. These can be found at McDonalds and Pappy’s and if you’re of age, you can pick up a Grass Hopper at Harry’s which is basically an alcoholic version of a Shamrock Shake. Tonight don’t forget to put your shoes outside your door to see what the leprechauns leave you in the morning.
It is finally here, it’s Friday March 17th and it’s St. Patrick’s Day. Put on everything green that you can find and hop over to Nine Irish Brothers to have a real Irish experience. Starting at 10 a.m. you will find live Irish entertainment in all of the Nine Irish Brothers locations. Not to mention a menu of amazing Irish food to make you feel like you hopped over the pond and landed in one of Dublin’s old pubs.
Or you can go to Indianapolis and watch the St. Patrick’s Day parade from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The parade route will go all through downtown Indianapolis. There will be Irish food and drinks available throughout the day.
This is the day you have been preparing for all week. The Indianapolis St. Patrick’s Day bar crawl. Join friends, family and strangers at 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. for drinks, food and fun.
Just a reminder: Daylight savings comes twice a year, once in the Fall where you fall back and gain an hour and once in the Spring where you spring forward and lose an hour. Today March 12th is daylight savings time which means you should have set your clocks an hour ahead at 2 a.m. this morning.
