Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and if you’re anything like me then it’s likely that you either forgot or you don’t have anything planned. Either way I am here to help you with some last-minute ideas that will make it seem like you’ve been planning for weeks.

  1. Heart Shaped Cookie Cake, $18

What’s better than showing someone you love them with a giant heart Insomnia cookie cake? Best part is that you can order it online and have them deliver straight to your special someone.

  1. Brown Bear Plush Toy, $13

What’s fuzzy and soft and best friend material? A plush Valentine’s Day animal. While cliché, a stuffed animal can be a great gift to show that you care. It can also be easy on any student’s wallet.

3. Bouquet of 3 Roses, $5

Roses are red, violets are blue, I’ll accept daisies too. Whether you’re going for gold with a bouquet of roses or something a little easier on the wallet, flowers are a great gift that anyone will appreciate. You can get a beautiful bouquet of 3 roses from Walmart for $5 and the best part is that you can get a ride there from CityBus.

  1. Chocolate Covered Strawberries, $2 per strawberry

Kathy’s Homemade Kandies has dozens of homemade chocolates that you can order straight from Hungry Boiler. The chocolate covered strawberries are her Valentine’s Day specialty and will only be available 2/13-2/14.

  1. Lindt Truffle Heart, $20

I don’t care what anyone says, chocolate will always be an acceptable gift in my book. This box of Lindt Truffles can be found at the CVS on Northwestern. There is a wide selection of candy and even roses.

Now onto the Valentine’s Day Date. Here are some ideas for how you and your special someone can spend the evening.

  1. Movie Date, $13 a person

The Lego Batman Movie for a comedy or Fifty Shades Darker for something a little more romantic, with the student discount, a date night at Wabash Landing 9 is a perfect way to spend your Valentine’s Day.

  1. Qdoba BOGO Burrito, $8

Get ready to pucker up! Qdoba is offering a buy one get one free burrito to people who show some love with a kiss. This can be with your significant other, a friend, or even your phone!

  1. Riverside Ice Skating, $8 a person

What’s more romantic than dressing up in warm clothes and skating hand in hand with the one you love? At Riverside ice skating you can go skate for as long as you want. They provide the ice and the skates!

  1. All Fired Up, average $20 a person

Candles and chocolates and music, oh my! All Fired Up on Wabash Landing is having a Valentine’s Day night where you and your beau can go paint pottery together in a romantic Valentine’s Day setting. Seatings are at 5pm and 7:30pm

  1. Dining Court Date, One meal swipe each

The Gathering Place is an upscale banquet style dining experience where you and your date can enjoy a select menu. The new dining court is located on the ground floor of Meredith Hall and is only available to people who are on a meal plan.

Valentine’s Day is not just for couples, it’s a day of celebrating all types of love, including love for yourself. If this has you discouraged then just remember, Cupid’s arrow can hit at anytime.
